Binh Thuan (VNA) – An exhibition showcasing valuable photos and historical documents on the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh opened on April 22 in Phuoc Hoi ward, La Gi township, Binh Thuan province.

Jointly organised by the Ho Chi Minh Museum – Binh Thuan Branch, the provincial library, and Phuoc Hoi 1 Junior High School, the two-day event forms part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Binh Thuan’s liberation (April 19, 1975 – 2025) and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).

On display are more than 100 black-and-white and colour photos, including documentary and journalistic images that offer a glimpse into the late President’s daily life, simple lifestyle, and revolutionary journey. Standout images feature President Ho Chi Minh gardening at the Presidential Palace in 1957, tending to fish in its pond in Hanoi, and meeting with a delegation of Southern liberation heroes and emulation soldiers in 1965.

The exhibition presents a vivid portrait of President Ho Chi Minh’s simple life and his profound love for labour, nature, and the people. His familiar image in a worn shirt and rubber sandals continues to evoke emotion and admiration among viewers.

The exhibition also features images capturing local cultural and historical heritage, such as Dinh Thay Thim Festival and the revolutionary site of Doc Ong Bang, and photos of La Gi township and Binh Thuan province.

The initiative, the first of its kind, offers residents, especially the younger generation, an opportunity to engage with valuable historical resources and gain a deeper appreciation of President Ho Chi Minh’s enduring values. It also serves as a meaningful educational platform, promoting moral development and pride among students.

As part of the programme, a mobile library van has been stationed at Phuoc Hoi 1 Junior High School, offering books and a quiet reading space for students, teachers, and local residents. On this occasion, the organisers also awarded 10 scholarships and donated four book sets on President Ho Chi Minh to schools in La Gi township./.

Eliminating single-use plastics: starting with youth

Each Vietnamese person uses more than one plastic bag per day, resulting in approximately 31.4 billion plastic bags being discarded into the environment annually. Only 17% of these are reused or recycled, and single-use plastics make their way to landfills or are released into the environment.
