Vientiane (VNA) – A delegation from Hanoi Financial and Banking University (FBU) is paying a working visit to Laos from July 15-18 in order to promote cooperation in higher education.

The delegation held working sessions with representatives from the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and the National University of Laos on July 15 in the capital city of Vientiane, where Chairman of the Board of the FBU Bui Xuan Bien provided an overview of the school’s development process and key achievements in undergraduate and postgraduate education.

He noted that the university currently offers a wide range of academic programmes aligned with labour market trends, especially in the context of Vietnam’s deeper integration into the global economy.

Bien expressed his desire to promote extensive cooperation with Lao universities in the coming time, adding that the FBU has established its reputation both domestically and regionally, and aims to train more international students, including those from Laos.

He emphasised that with the trust and support of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, the FBU is ready to engage in close collaboration with Lao institutions, and is interest in assessing their capacity with a view to making long-term infrastructure investment.

Notably, the FBU also announced its willingness to offer full scholarships to Lao students and researchers wishing to study in Vietnam. This initiative is part of the university’s education internationalisation strategy and reflects the spirit of solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Bien also proposed extensive cooperation in various areas, including student and lecturer exchanges, joint scientific research, mutual credit recognition between institutions, and collaborative training in key disciplines.

The Lao side agreed with the proposals of the FBU Chairman regarding the promotion of academic and student exchanges, scholarship granting, and mutual recognition of academic programmes. The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports stated that it will continue to study the proposals and report to relevant authorities for further implementation in the near future.

On July 17–18, the FBU delegation is scheduled to have working sessions with representatives from the Lao Ministry of Finance, and Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang to discuss and promote cooperation in education, research, and high-quality human resources development programmes./.
