Bac Lieu (VNA) – Authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu have set a goal to replace makeshift and dilapidated homes for 1,760 poor households by 2025, heard a meeting of businesses on January 17.
Accordingly, the programme encourages businesses to continue supporting the housing improvement campaign, which has already seen significant contributions from the private sector.
Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu commended the business community for playing a crucial role in economic growth and social initiatives, including poverty alleviation and housing improvements.
Despite economic challenges, the province achieved a 6.62% growth rate in 2024, ranking 10th among 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta. This success reflected the collective efforts of local authorities and businesses in fostering job creation, economic development, and social welfare.
To sustain momentum, the province will take a series of moves, including simplify administrative procedures, and addressing business challenges through regular dialogues and initiatives like Coffee with Entrepreneurs.
Through these efforts, Bac Lieu aims to enhance its business environment, promote sustainable development, and ensure better living conditions for vulnerable people./.
