Ben Tre (VNA) – The Labour Federation of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on March 27 organised a groundbreaking ceremony for a housing construction project, providing new homes for its members struggling with substandard living conditions.

At the ceremony in Son Phu commune, Giong Trom district, the federation unveiled its support for nine new housing units, with a total investment of 540 million VND (over 21,000 USD).

These homes are more than just structures, they are lifelines for workers seeking stability and a path out of poverty.

President of the federation Nguyen Phuc Linh underscored the significance of the programme to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses, saying it demonstrates the Party, State, the locality, the labour federation, and the whole society’s care for trade union members and workers with housing difficulties.

Beyond housing, the federation has supported over 500 workers through a concessional loan programme, totaling more than 10 billion VND. It commits to expanding the initiative, helping the workers have more opportunities to escape poverty./.

Four key community projects launched in central localities
