Various support policies have been applied,including providing credit for poor and near-poor households as well as thosejust escaped from poverty, and poor students. Last year, more than 443 billionVND was provided to more than 13,000 households.
Meanwhile, more than 124,800 healthinsurance cards have been handed over to poor locals, while more than 26,000students have received learning support, and nearly 1,400 houses have beenbuilt for poor households.
As part of efforts to implement Resolution42/NQ-CP issued by the Prime Minister dated April 9, 2020 on measures to assistCOVID-19-impacted people, Dong Thap has provided more than 180 billion VND tomore than 183,400 needy people to help them ease difficulties and stablisetheir life.
At the same time, the provincial VietnamFatherland Front (VFF) Committee and member orgaisations have mobilised morethan 300 billion VND from the society and over 84 scholarships worth 51 billionVND for the poor.
Doan Tan Buu, Vice Chairman of the DongThap People’s Committee said that in order to complete the target of reducingthe poverty ratio by 0.5 percent by the end of this year, the province willfocus on associating the implementation of sustainable poverty reduction withthe building of new-style rural areas.
Along with providing favourable conditionsfor locals, especially those in rural areas to access basic social welfare, thelocality will conduct vocational training to rural labourers and increaselabour export, he said./.
