Hanoi (VNA) – The first-ever Thang Long – Hanoi Festival 2025, slated for November 1–16 with over 30 diverse activities across various fields and locations, is expected to become a cultural and tourism highlight for the capital in autumn.
With preparations now complete, the festival promises to offer a unique experience to both locals and visitors.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on November 7 evening, highlighting both the traditional and modern facets of the capital city.
As part of the festival, the Temple of Literature will serve as the focal point with a series of large-scale cultural and educational activities aimed at spreading knowledge and promoting the nation’s long-standing fondness for learning. These activities include an exhibition showcasing traditional handicrafts from the three ancient capitals of Thang Long, Hue and Hoa Lu and the Central Highlands provinces, a culinary display introducing the "Flavours of Hanoi", a fashion show titled “Ao dai on the Heritage Path”, along with music shows.
At the Hanoi Museum, the public can visit a special display of archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi (Banana Garden) relic site, enjoy a musical programme, and engage in the 4th Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival.
Nguyen Huu Viet, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Tourism Promotion Centre under the municipal Department of Tourism, shared that 30 "ao dai" designers across the country will tell the story of Vietnam’s "ao dai" culture through their designs.
Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, stated that this is a large-scale cultural and artistic event, which is expected to be held annually in autumn (from October to November).
The festival aims to reaffirm Hanoi's position in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, as well as its brand as one of the “best places to see beautiful autumn foliage in Asia,” thereby contributing to the development of Hanoi’s cultural industries.
Mai also shared that the city has signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Airlines. The two sides will collaborate in communication efforts, introducing the festival on flights of the national flag carrier to attract both domestic and international tourists to Hanoi during this period.
Meanwhile, Viet said the Hanoi Tourism Promotion Centre has been actively promoting the festival on online travel platforms like Agoda and Traveloka. Additionally, information has been sent to hospitality and travel agencies, encouraging them to incorporate festival activities into their tours and itineraries for international visitors./.
