- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man urged the press to continue developing in a professional, humane and modern manner, and better serving the Fatherland and the people, while addressing the 20th National Press Awards Ceremony in the northern port city of Hai Phong on June 21.
The event, which marked the 101st anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – 2026), was also attended by senior Party and State leaders, representatives of central and local agencies, veteran journalists and leaders of media organisations nationwide. Read full text
- Vietnam’s election of its first judge to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) marks a significant milestone in the country’s international integration and reflects growing international recognition of its contributions to global affairs, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.
On June 18, at the 36th Meeting of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) at the United Nations headquarters, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh was elected judge of the ITLOS for the 2026–2035 term. Read full text
- Vietnam has emerged as an increasingly important driver of regional economic integration over the past three decades, with two-way trade with ASEAN soaring to approximately 91 billion USD in 2025 from only 3.26 billion USD in 1995. As Southeast Asia accelerates economic connectivity, digital transformation and green growth, the country is strengthening its position as a key manufacturing, logistics and digital trade hub, helping to create new growth space for the region.
Le Quoc Phuong, former Deputy Director of the Industry and Trade Information Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN in 1995 and participation in regional free trade agreements (FTAs), including the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), have provided a strong impetus for trade growth. - The Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam) on June 19 signed Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for Blocks 10/11 and 10&11-1, along with a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) for Phase 2B of the Su Tu Trang (White Lion) gas field in Block 15-1.
The agreements underscore the commitment of Petrovietnam, the Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) and their partners to advancing oil and gas exploration, development and production activities, contributing to national energy security, optimising existing resources and creating new growth drivers for Vietnam’s energy industry. - Ho Chi Minh City is shifting its investment strategy from prioritising volume to attracting high-quality, high-impact technology projects, with a focus on semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), data centres and research and development (R&D).

- The central city of Da Nang and Copenhagen are stepping up cooperation in green and sustainable urban development through the event “Da Nang – Copenhagen: A green journey along the Han river”, which opened at APEC Park on June 20.
Jointly organised by the Da Nang People's Committee and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, the event marks the 55th anniversary of Vietnam–Denmark diplomatic relations (1971–2026) while promoting exchanges and collaboration on sustainable urban development. Read full text
- As Vietnam’s political, cultural and tourism hub, Hanoi welcomes tens of millions of domestic and international visitors each year and has gained global recognition for its rich heritage, distinctive cuisine and strong cultural identity. However, tourism experts say the city’s night-time economy and visitor experiences have yet to fully match its potential.
Beyond Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake), the Old Quarter and several weekend pedestrian streets, evening entertainment and cultural offerings remain limited.
