- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam – Russian Federation Business Forum in Moscow on March 24, as part of his ongoing official visit to the European country.
Also attending the event were Russian Deputy PM Dmitry Chernychenko; Vietnamese Deputy PMs Tran Hong Ha and Bui Thanh Son; leaders of Vietnamese and Russian ministries, agencies, and localities; and notably 220 delegates representing 120 top enterprises from both countries. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Virtual Atomic Energy Museum and the Moscow Metro Joint Operations Centre (JOC) of Russia on March 24 (local time) to explore the country’s strengths in nuclear energy and urban rail systems - the two areas where Russia has advantages while Vietnam is prioritising for development.
Located within the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy complex in Moscow, the museum was built in 2018 and opened to the public in 2023. The facility spans around 25,000 sq.m, with four above-ground floors and three underground basements, and can accommodate up to 2,100 visitors at a time, or 4,500 per day. Read full story
- Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held talks with Jozef Sikela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, in Hanoi on March 24, expressing his hope for the Vietnam – EU cooperation to be elevated in a more substantive and effective manner.
Trung noted that this is the first visit by an EU Commissioner to Vietnam since the two sides upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in January 2026, underscoring the bloc’s determination to translate the newly established framework into concrete cooperation. Read full story
- Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on March 23 visited and held working sessions with NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and attended a forum promoting investment in the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC).
At a working session with NASDAQ, Binh expressed his hope that the exchange would become a key partner in the development of the VIFC. He proposed enhancing policy dialogue to help refine Vietnam’s capital markets, alongside cooperation on listing standards, technology development, governance capacity and human resource training for the country’s stock market and the VIFC. - A total of 87 self-nominated candidates have been elected deputies to the People's Councils at all levels, including two at the provincial level and 85 at the commune level, according to reports from 34 cities and provinces nationwide.
Ta Thi Yen, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Deputy Affairs and Standing Deputy Chief of the National Election Council (NEC)’s Office, said 2,552 provincial-level People’s Council deputies for the 2026–2031 tenure were elected. Read full story
- As volatility intensifies across global energy markets, Vietnam has proactively rolled out coordinated measures to safeguard fuel supplies and support macroeconomic stability, according to the Domestic Markets Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
Given its status as a net importer of petroleum products, Vietnam remains highly exposed to global price fluctuations, which quickly ripple through the domestic economy. Despite these pressures, fuel market management has been conducted in a timely and effective manner. Read full story
- The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is seeking public feedback on a draft resolution of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee to adjust environmental protection tax rates on fuel products, aiming to respond to energy market volatility and help curb inflation.
Under the proposal, during the resolution’s validity period, the environmental protection tax on petrol (excluding ethanol) and aviation fuel would be reduced from 2,000 VND (0.076 USD) per litre to 1,000 VND per litre. The tax on diesel would be halved from 1,000 VND to 500 VND per litre. These rates would apply throughout the implementation period, including any extension if deemed necessary./. Read full story
