Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam To Lam, together with a high-ranking delegation of the country, is going to pay a state visit to Sri Lanka from May 7 to 8.
The visit will be made at the invitation of President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced./.
Vietnam remains an important partner for Sri Lanka in Southeast Asia, and affirmed Sri Lanka’s intention to expand collaboration in mutually beneficial fields, said Dr Dammika Patabendi, Sri Lankan Minister of Environment and Chairman of the Sri Lanka–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group.
The ambassador expressed her desire to advance cooperation between Vietnam and the Northern Province in fields where the locality has strengths, including agriculture, fisheries, livestock, tourism, trade and investment, while learning more about its specific cooperation needs.
The event, which drew numerous female representatives from diplomatic missions, international organisations, Sri Lankan agencies, businesses, and the local Vietnamese community, honoured the role of women in society and served as a cultural diplomacy initiative to enhance mutual understanding between the two countries.
