Vietnam Summer Camp 2025 promotes cultural connection, national unity

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the Vietnam Summer Camp 2025, an annual event that offers a meaningful platform for young overseas Vietnamese to explore their homeland, deepen cultural connection, and strengthen ties with domestic peers.

Announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on July 3, the 2025 edition is expected to bring together over 100 outstanding young Vietnamese from 31 countries and territories for a two-week journey across three regions of Vietnam, with stops in Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Quang Tri, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi.

Among this year’s participants are young people with eminent achievements in various fields such as martial arts athlete Nguyen Bat Tung Duong (Slovakia), math medallist Huy Tuan Suvd (Mongolia), and academic and sports achiever Nguyen Nora Ngoc Khanh (Hungary).

Running from July 13 - 26, the 2025 camp’s itinerary includes visits to historic and cultural sites like Cu Chi Tunnels, Kon Tum Prison Relic Site, and Quang Tri Martyrs’ Monument. Delegates will also take part in charitable activities in the Central Highlands, experience gong culture, and join exchanges with local youths and officers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department.

For the first time, the camp will open in Dak Lak, giving participants a closer look at the Central Highlands’ unique ethnic cultures and economic potential.

Chairing the event, Nguyen Trung Kien, chairman of the committee, noted that the camp’s 2025 edition coincides with major national anniversaries: the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, and the lead-up to the 80th National Day.

These milestones provide a powerful opportunity to deepen young overseas Vietnamese’s understanding of the country’s past struggles and present achievements, he said.

“Through this year’s theme “Together, let's write the Next Chapter of Peace”, we hope to inspire young people to carry forward Vietnam’s legacy of peace while contributing to the country’s future development,” Kien said./.
