Hanoi (VNA) – The 4th national writing contest on defending the ideological foundation of the Party in the new context was rounded off with an awards ceremony held in Hanoi on May 15.
A total of 30 outstanding entries were honoured, including three first prizes, six second prizes, nine third prizes, and 12 consolation prizes. Additionally, three media organisations received collective awards for submitting a significant number of high-quality entries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Vice Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and head of the steering committee for the contest, noted that the fourth edition saw an increase in both the quantity and quality of submissions, with broader and more diverse participation. More than 500 entries were submitted by over 50 media outlets, many of which presented fresh and in-depth perspectives.
The official highlighted that alongside experts and scientists' academic treatises clarifying the foundational principles of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the competition also featured many journalistic pieces that demonstrated sharp critique and timely responses. These works actively confronted distortions and the subversive actions of hostile, reactionary, and politically opportunistic forces. Many also directly addressed internal issues, criticising manifestations of political, ethical, and lifestyle degradation, as well as signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" among certain Party members and officials.
On this occasion, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper and head of the contest organising committee, officially launched its fifth edition.
The competition is open to all Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and foreign nationals living or working in Vietnam. Eligible entries must be published in print or online by officially licenced media outlets between March 15, 2025 and March 10, 2026. Its awards ceremony is expected to take place in May next year, coinciding with the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19)./.
