China, Malaysia boost strategic cooperation

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak met in Kuala Lumpur on Nov. 11 to discuss ways of furthering strategic and cooperative ties between the two countries.

President Hu, who is currently on a state visit to Malaysia, said thatstrategic cooperation between China and Malaysia serves the fundamentalinterests of both countries and peoples and contributes to peace,stability and prosperity in the region.

Hu arrived in the Malaysian capital city on Nov. 10, starting the first official visit by a Chinese head of state for 15 years.

Bilateral relations between China and Malaysia have developed steadilysince the two countries first established diplomatic relations 35 yearsago.

Malaysia has become China's largest trading partner among themembers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) withtwo-way trade reaching 53.47 billion USD in 2008./.

Vietnam rotates two officers to UN peacekeeping missions in Abyei, South Sudan

Sen. Lt. Col. Nguyen My Hanh, an English-language lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages at the Military Academy of Logistics, will replace Lt. Col. Nguyen Van Thu as senior training staff officer at UNISFA; and Capt. Truong Tan Huy, a logistics assistant at Battalion 871 of Brigade 954 under Naval Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Navy, will take over from Maj. Le Vinh Hoang as a military observer at UNMISS.
