Bac Lieu (VNA) – The Ministry of Public Security has pledged 42 billion VND (1.63 million USD) to support the construction of 700 homes for poor and near-poor households in Bac Lieu province, part of ongoing efforts to eliminate substandard houses in the Mekong Delta region.
At a ceremony held on April 3 in Phuoc Long town, the ministry handed over two model houses and transferred the funding to local authorities.
According to provincial data, Bac Lieu currently has 1,760 households in need of housing support. In the first phase of the programme, 779 houses were completed ahead of the Lunar New Year. The ministry’s latest support will be for the second phase, set for 2025.
To date, the ministry has helped eradicate nearly 20,000 makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide with 100 billion VND (3.87 million USD) in funding.
Also at the event, Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang and provincial leaders presented 40 gift sets to disadvantaged households.
After the ceremony, two completed houses were officially handed over, and construction began on a third in Phuoc Long town./.
