- Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has stressed the need for a major shift in housing market development, moving from a model focused mainly on commercial housing to one that develops both commercial and rental housing in parallel, with rental housing identified as a long-term strategic segment serving broad public demand.
Chairing a working session on May 25 with the Hanoi People's Committee and ministries on rental housing development in the capital, the PM said there is high consensus on approaches to institutionalise Party policies, improve mechanisms and accelerate rental housing development. Read full story
- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man has called for reforms to the settlement of public aspirations to make it more substantive and accountable so that people could see the NA genuinely listens, monitors, supervises and pushes for solutions to their concerns.
Chairing a working session with permanent members of the NA’s Committee for People's Aspirations and Supervision on key tasks for 2026 and the 2026–2031 term on May 25, the top legislator praised the committee’s sense of responsibility, proactiveness and efforts while also pointing out several major bottlenecks. - Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with Phil Nelson, Executive Vice President of CNN International Commercial, on May 25 to discuss potential media cooperation to promote Vietnam’s image, and communications plans for APEC 2027, to be hosted by the country.

- Vietnam has, for the first time, broken into the world’s top 10 crude steel producers, marking a major milestone for its fast-growing steel industry, according to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
In April, Vietnam’s crude steel output was estimated at 2.1 million tonnes, up 4% year-on-year. With this result, Vietnam surpassed Italy to secure a place among the top 10 global producers. Read full story
- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health plans to allocate more than 2.5 trillion VND (95 million USD) for health check-ups targeting nearly 15 million residents in 2026.
The programme, set to begin on May 25, is carried out at qualified healthcare facilities, mobile clinics at schools, factories and businesses, community-based screening sites arranged by local authorities, as well as through home visits to elderly residents, people living alone and those with limited mobility.
