Vietnam attends Singapore’s ATxSummit 2025, highlights responsible AI development

Following participation in the summit and thematic panel sessions, the Vietnamese delegation joined a ministerial roundtable on digital trust, where Deputy Minister Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc delivered an address outlining Vietnam’s efforts in implementing its national strategy on AI research, development and application until 2030.

Singapore (VNA) – A high-level delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, led by Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam, attended the Asia Tech x Singapore 2025 (ATxSummit 2025) from May 28–29.

Following participation in the summit and thematic panel sessions, the Vietnamese delegation joined a ministerial roundtable on digital trust, where Lam delivered an address outlining Vietnam’s efforts in implementing its national strategy on AI research, development and application until 2030.

The deputy minister stressed that Vietnam has taken a proactive approach in studying international experiences and adopting recommendations from reputable global organisations to establish an ethical regulatory framework suited to the country’s domestic context, while fostering the development of responsible AI products that align with existing legal standards.

He outlined several recommendations on avenues for international cooperation to help ensure a safer and more trustworthy digital environment for people in the years ahead. Vietnam believes that all parties should actively implement key existing initiatives and frameworks on AI governance and digital security, such as the Global Digital Compact and the Cross-Border Privacy Rules, Lam said.

He underscored the need for continued efforts to develop a flexible and regionally harmonised legal framework, paving the way for the establishment and mutual recognition of common technical standards and regulations for AI across ASEAN member states.

Lam called for the creation of AI research and application centres within the ASEAN region, the interconnection and integration of national data centres, and the establishment of mechanisms for information sharing, alerts, and coordination on AI-related applications.

He said it is also necessary to strengthen cooperation in human resources development and communication efforts to raise public awareness of AI and related ethical, legal, and security issues.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with Singaporean authorities, including the Traffic Police, as well as other key partners.

Hosted by Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the high-profile event drew over 3,500 registered participants, including government representatives, tech companies, investors, experts, and major international media outlets./.
