- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam and his spouse, along with a high-level delegation of Vietnam will pay a state visit to Singapore from May 29 - 31.

- A memorial and reburial ceremony for the remains of nine Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos during wartime was held on the morning of May 25 at Nam martyrs’ cemetery in Tu My commune, the north central province of Ha Tinh.
The event was attended by Tran Cam Tu, a member of the Politburo and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat. Also attending were Party Central Committee members and representatives from the Party Central Committee's Office, the Ministry of National Defence, ministries and agencies, Ha Tinh authorities, Military Region 4 Command, and local residents, and delegations from the special task committees of Laos’ Vientiane and Bolikhamxay province. - The green economy is forecast to contribute more than 10% of Vietnam’s GDP by 2030 while creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs, experts said at the launch ceremony of the Smart Landscape & Healthy Living Expo 2026 held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 25.
The event jointly organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Startup Centre (SIHUB) and Gallery Architecture & Materials is scheduled to take place from July 17-19 at the SIHUB. Read full story
- Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has directed its regional power corporations to roll out a coordinated package of measures to maintain safe, stable supply while bolstering customer service and pushing energy conservation as temperatures soar.

- The Department of Medical Service Administration under the Ministry of Health on May 24 issued an urgent document to medical examination and treatment facilities nationwide, calling for stronger preparedness and prevention measures against Ebola virus disease (EVD).

- Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable export turnover in May was estimated at 614.79 million USD, unchanged from the same period last year, according to the Department of Customs.
The figure brought fruit and vegetable exports to more than 2.67 billion USD in the first five months of 2026, up 16% year-on-year. Read full story
- Vietnam and China have opened an additional cross-border logistics route, contributing to stronger transport links and bilateral trade.
China Railway Nanning Group said a container train hauling 170 tonnes of calcium hydroxide left Guigang station in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on May 23 afternoon. The shipment transited through Nanning International Railway Port before heading to Vietnam’s Yen Vien station. The corridor is a new cross-border logistics addition following the launch of the Liuzhou-Nanning-Vietnam rail service. Read full story
- Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu delivered a standout performance to win the gold medal in the women’s vault at the FIG World Challenge Cup 2026 in Uzbekistan on May 23, earning Vietnam its first international gymnastics title of the year.
According to Vietnamese gymnastics delegation head Truong Minh Sang, Nhu scored 13.175 points in the final, comfortably finishing ahead of India’s Pranati Nayak (12.825) and Uzbekistan’s Shakhinabonu Yusufova (12.750).
