Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian media on January 28 highlighted the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as a new milestone in Vietnam's development, and underscored the country’s confidence in moving into a new era of development with strategic autonomy and steady advancement toward socialism.

In its article titled “Vietnam steadily follows the socialist path,” Kampuchea Thmey Daily said that the 14th National Congress concluded successfully. It described the Congress as one of “solidarity – democracy – discipline – breakthrough – development,” reflecting the spirit of strategic autonomy, resilience, and confidence as the country steps into a new era of peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, cultural advancement, and happiness along the socialist path.

The article noted that the Congress elected the Party Central Committee with 200 members, meeting standards of political mettle, ethical qualities, leadership capacity, and renewed mindset, and representing the intellect, will, and aspirations of the entire Party, people, and army.

The 14th Party Central Committee elected a 19-member Politburo and re-elected To Lam as General Secretary for the 14th tenure.

It quoted General Secretary Lam at the Congress, emphasising that the 14th Central Committee of the CPV will uphold exemplary leadership, align words with actions, and complete all tasks, and noting that the effectiveness in serving the people will be the measure of each member’s leadership ability, credibility, and honour.

The article said the Congress also attracted special attention from many political parties, international organisations and friends, as well as diplomats and international organisations in Vietnam. Letters, telegrams, and messages of congratulations have praised the CPV’s leadership and the country’s development orientation in the new era, while affirming Vietnam’s growing position and contributions in the international arena.

Kampuchea Thmey Daily cited a congratulatory letter from King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia to General Secretary Lam, in which the King expressed his confidence that under the Party chief’s wise leadership, Vietnam would achieve significant successes and development across all fields, maintaining its important role in the region and the world. Norodom also showed the hope that Vietnam-Cambodia relations would continue to grow, for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the two countries.

In a related report, Deum Ampil News (DAP News) said President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Samdech Techo Hun Sen sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary Lam, highlighting that Lam's re-election reflects the strong confidence of both the Vietnamese Party and people in his leadership.

The CPP leader expressed his belief that under General Secretary Lam’s visionary leadership, the CPV will continue to receive strong support from the Vietnamese people and achieve even greater success in implementing policies and resolutions approved at the 14th Party Congress.

Referring to the Vietnam – Cambodia relations, Hun Sen expressed his firm belief that through joint efforts, the friendship between the two Parties and governments will be further strengthened, following the motto of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability.

According to DAP News, Vietnam’s 14th National Party Congress represents not just a political milestone but a turning point in development mindset, providing a theoretical and practical foundation for the country to confidently enter a new phase of development, with a reformed growth model, sustainable development, deeper integration, and an enhanced international standing./.
