Jakarta (VNA) – A tourism programme showcasing Central Vietnam as a diverse and attractive destination was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 27.

The event was co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hue Department of Tourism, with the participation of 20 leading travel businesses from the two localities.

With the message of “Central Vietnam: One Destination – Endless Experiences,” the programme introduced new offerings to more than 100 Indonesian partners, including MICE, weddings, golf, luxury resorts and Halal-friendly services for Muslim travelers.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong emphasised that tourism is a promising pillar of bilateral cooperation. He noted that two-way trade reached 16.7 billion USD in 2024, with over 184,000 Indonesian tourists visiting Vietnam. The diplomat expressed hope that the central region of Vietnam will attract more visitors thanks to its diverse offerings, from pristine beaches and cultural heritage to vibrant festivals.

Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the region aims to promote its destinations while working toward launching direct flights from major Indonesian cities. He also highlighted efforts to expand Muslim-friendly services to better serve visitors.

Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of Hue’s Department of Tourism, stressed the importance of tailoring products for the Malaysian and Indonesian markets, noting that prayer spaces are being introduced at airports, hotels, restaurants, and other service facilities.

Suzi Oktalina, Manager at Gabriel Travel from Indonesia, said many Indonesian travellers enjoy Vietnam’s cool weather in Hanoi and Sapa, and that Muslim-friendly offerings from Vietnam’s central localities would become an attractive new option.
