– Strategic-level personnel planning is a matter of paramount importance that is directly linked to the destiny of the Party, the future of the nation, and public trust, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam said on June 23.
"Effective planning today means preparing the Party’s leadership capacity for tomorrow, ensuring strong succession, continuous renewal, and the sustainable development of the revolutionary cause," he said while addressing a meeting with officials included in the personnel planning scheme under the management of the Politburo. – Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has called for concentrating resources on developing core technologies and strategic products with the potential to drive growth and improve national competitiveness.
Chairing a hybrid thematic meeting of the Government’s Steering Committee on science-technology development, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06 to speed up the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, PM Hung stressed that science, technology and innovation must become a key driver of double-digit economic growth, as well as improvements in productivity, quality and efficiency, and the enhancement of national competitiveness and self-reliance. – Vietnam always values and gives high priority to relations with India – a loyal, trusted and longstanding friend with deep historical and cultural ties, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man said while receiving newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa in Hanoi on June 23.
At the meeting, Chairman Man commended the ambassador’s efforts in advancing Vietnam–India relations, particularly his active contributions in coordinating arrangements for the recent state visit to India by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam. – NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted a farewell reception in Hanoi on June 23 for outgoing Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama.
The top legislator congratulated the ambassador on the successful completion of his mission and praised his ability to strengthen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine, as well as his role as head of the Diplomatic Corps in Hanoi. – Competent authorities have approved in principle the convening of an extraordinary session of the NA in August, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man announced on June 23.
Delivering closing remarks at the third session of the NA Standing Committee, the top legislator said from now until the end of the year, the workload facing the NA, its Standing Committee, the Government, and relevant agencies will be substantial, particularly legislative tasks and preparations for upcoming sessions. – The elderly in Vietnam will be entitled to at least one free annual health check-up or screening from 2026 under a revised national programme on elderly care through 2030.
The policy is included in Decision No. 1116/QD-TTg, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra on June 22, amending the national programme approved in 2020. Read full story

– Vietnam’s public investment spending is accelerating sharply, cementing its role as a critical growth engine as global trade and economic uncertainty undercut traditional drivers.
Disbursement reached 227.2 trillion VND (8.73 billion USD) as of June 4, equal to 22.4% of the Prime Minister’s annual plan, the Ministry of Finance said. That was up from 198.4 trillion VND a week earlier, meaning more than 28.8 trillion VND was disbursed in the May 29–June 4 period alone, about 1.8 times the prior week’s pace. Read full story./.
