- Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung chaired a meeting in Hanoi on June 23 to discuss a draft project on developing research centres, testing facilities and key laboratories serving strategic technologies.

- Doctors at the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children have successfully saved and cared for an extremely premature baby girl weighing just 720 grams at birth, the daughter of a Singaporean couple visiting Vietnam.
After more than three months of intensive treatment and specialised neonatal care, the infant was discharged from hospital on June 22 in stable condition. She is now breathing on her own, feeding well and weighs 2.655 kilograms, the hospital said on June 23. Read full story
- Da Nang International Airport on June 23 began a six-day trial of a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) monitoring system designed to detect and track drones and other unauthorised flying devices that could threaten aviation safety.
Installed at the airport’s operations centre, the system is capable of automatically detecting, identifying and tracking unmanned flying devices operating within the airport area. During the trial period, authorities will assess the technology’s detection accuracy, operational range and target-tracking capabilities. Read full story

- Hanoi will discontinue paper monthly bus passes on its subsidised public bus network from July 1, accelerating the rollout of a cashless electronic ticketing system, the municipal Department of Construction said June 23.
The phase-out is part of a broader push to modernise fare collection and expand digital payments across the capital’s public transport network. - Business sentiment in Vietnam is rebounding strongly despite a challenging operating environment marked by rising costs and growing global uncertainties, including prolonged geopolitical tensions and trade-related pressures, according to the recently released Business Outlook Study 2026 by the United Overseas Bank (UOB).

- While lychee output in the northern province of Bac Ninh is estimated to fall by more than 50% this year due to unfavourable weather during the flowering stage, farmers are still enjoying a successful harvest season as prices stay at record highs.
