Bangkok (VNA) – Representatives from Thai state agencies, businesses, academia and industrial and agricultural sectors gathered at the Climate Intelligence Forum 2026 on June 29 to discuss the role of carbon data in advancing the country's net-zero emissions goals and sharpening economic competitiveness.
The event was co-hosted by the Carbon Institute for Sustainability (CBiS) and the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University.
In his speech, Director of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) Nakorn Trakwiraphat said integrating climate science, big data and artificial intelligence (AI) would enable climate and emissions data to be transformed into actionable insights for forecasting, policymaking and the building of effective greenhouse gas mitigation solutions.
On the occasion, organisers unveiled the IdeaCarb – CFO Report Platform, designed to help organisations assess and report their carbon footprint. The platform integrates measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems with machine learning and AI technologies to analyse emissions reduction trends and evaluate the economic performance of decarbonisation measures.
The event also introduced several joint schemes to promote the use of carbon data across key sectors, including a project with PTT Group to develop a carbon footprint assessment system for rice production, and another with the State Railway of Thailand to improve the ecological-economic efficiency of the country's rail transport system./.
