Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet has held a working session with Bulgarian Minister of Justice Nikolay Naydenov to discuss measures to strengthen legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries in the new period.
During the June 22 meeting, Nguyet stressed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria remains a valuable asset cultivated over more than seven decades through the sustained efforts of successive generations of leaders and people in both countries. Building on this foundation, she said bilateral relations are entering a new stage of development with broad prospects ahead.
The ambassador underlined that alongside political, economic, trade, investment, and education-training cooperation, joint work in legal and judicial affairs plays an important role in reinforcing the legal framework and creating favourable conditions for increasingly substantive and in-depth bilateral ties.
Both sides agreed that legal and judicial cooperation has delivered positive outcomes in recent years and expressed their shared intention to further expand delegation exchanges, share experience in law-making and law enforcement, develop human resources, and deepen professional cooperation between the two countries’ judicial agencies.
For his part, Naydenov affirmed that Bulgaria regards Vietnam as one of its key partners in Southeast Asia and spoke highly of the strong momentum in bilateral relations in recent years.
He said both sides should continue to build on the longstanding tradition of cooperation established by previous generations, while increasing exchanges of expertise in areas of shared interest, particularly digital transformation and the application of information technology in judicial activities.
The minister also commended Vietnam’s recent socio-economic achievements and expressed a wish to strengthen channels of exchange and cooperation between the relevant authorities of both countries in order to improve judicial effectiveness and better serve citizens and businesses. The two sides also discussed several legal matters concerning the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria and agreed to maintain dialogue and close coordination to provide favourable conditions for the community, thereby contributing to stronger people-to-people exchanges and reinforcing the social foundation of the Vietnam–Bulgaria strategic partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing legal and judicial cooperation, describing it as one of the key pillars of bilateral relations.
They also agreed to maintain regular consultation and exchange mechanisms between relevant agencies to ensure timely sharing of experience and promote new cooperation initiatives aligned with each country’s development priorities.
Nguyet stated that the Vietnamese Embassy would continue to act as a bridge and work closely with the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice to ensure the effective implementation of cooperation activities in the period ahead./.
