Hanoi (VNA) - The Government held a law-making session in Hanoi on February 20 to discuss seven draft laws, each designed to introduce new and breakthrough regulations that will clear the path for future growth.
The proposed laws encompass a range of areas, including the Law on the State of Emergency, the Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Product and Goods Quality, the revised Railway Law, the Law on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, the Law on Extradition, the Law on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, and the Law on Personal Data Protection.
In his closing speech, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long underscored the importance of these draft laws, highlighting their roles in enhancing judicial cooperation in criminal matters, facilitating the extradition and the effective transfer of sentenced persons, while also improving swift and effective response to emergency situations.
The bills also seek to strengthen state management over product and goods quality, develop railway infrastructure, including high-speed and urban rail systems; protect personal data, and uphold the legitimate rights and interests of organisations and individuals. These efforts align with international legal standards and are set to drive socio-economic growth, he said.
Commending the insightful, responsible and practical contributions from cabinet members, he directed the ministries responsible for the draft laws to incorporate feedback and accelerate the finalisation process in accordance with the Law on the Promulgation of Legal Documents, which must be submitted to the Prime Minister before being presented to the National Assembly at its 9th session in May.
Ministries were tasked with ensuring the legislation is coherent, free of overlaps, and aligned with Vietnam's international commitments. The goal is to create concise laws that promote decentralisation, clearly define responsibilities, and streamline administrative procedures./.
