Da Nang (VNA) – Three foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have pledged to provide nearly 2.5 million USD to support social and humanitarian programmes in Da Nang city from 2025 to 2030.
The pledges were made at a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held on October 22 by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO). The event was carried out under the central city’s 2025 plan on people-to-people diplomacy and foreign NGO aid mobilisation.
The three participating NGOs, namely Giving It Back To Kids (the US), Children of Vietnam (the US), and Lifestart Foundation (Australia), have long been active partners of Da Nang, contributing to local welfare, education, and community development.
Under the new MoUs, Giving It Back To Kids will provide 1.06 million USD to fund sustainable development initiatives, education and life skills programmes, and community support projects. Children of Vietnam plans to contribute 1 million USD to enhance education, infrastructure, nutrition, and emergency relief programmes. Meanwhile, Lifestart Foundation will allocate 343,500 USD for educational and medical scholarships, clean water systems, bicycles, and essential supplies for disadvantaged students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Thi Man, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, commended DAFO for effectively connecting the city with international partners, organisations, and individuals, thereby helping advance Da Nang’s socio-economic development.
She affirmed the city’s commitment to creating favourable conditions for NGOs to continue implementing impactful projects that contribute to local social security.
Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Chairman of DAFO, noted that since 2021, the union has mobilised assistance from 30 NGOs for over 110 programmes, projects, and non-project initiatives across health care, education, sustainable poverty reduction, disaster risk mitigation, environmental protection, and social welfare, with total funding nearing 80 billion VND (over 3 million USD).
He added that today’s signing ceremony marks the start of a new cooperation phase for 2025–2030, with several additional MoUs expected in upcoming rounds. DAFO aims to attract hundreds of billions of VND in aid, as well as international experts and volunteers, to assist Da Nang in priority areas./.
