HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City plans to complete four social housing projects this year, with over 2,800 units, according to the municipal People’s Committee.

Meanwhile, the city will start eight other social housing projects with nearly 8,000 apartments this year.

From 2021 to May 2025, a total of 2,745 social housing apartments were completed in the southern metropolis.

To fulfill the target of 100,000 apartments for the 2026–2030 period assigned by the Prime Minister, an additional 94,381 units still need to be completed.

The municipal People's Committee is developing its adjusted housing development programme for 2021 – 2030 and a housing development plan for 2026 – 2030.

Specifically, it plans to complete 9,438 units in 2026, 14,157 units in 2027, 18,876 units in 2028, 23,595 units in 2029, and 28,315 units in 2030.

To promote social housing projects in the city, the HCM City Real Estate Association has recently made specific recommendations and solutions. Accordingly, departments and agencies are urged to coordinate closely with each other to remove legal obstacles, creating favourable conditions for real estate businesses to quickly implement projects. Streamlining investment procedures, facilitating investors' land access and conducting bidding to select investors should be implemented immediately, the association suggested./.
