Beijing (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City organised five investment promotion dialogues and forums as part of its participation in the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC 2026) in Dalian, China, from June 22–26.

The Vietnamese southern economic hub’s programme attracted nearly 1,000 participants, with nine cooperation initiatives announced between municipal agencies and businesses and Chinese enterprises across sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicles and smart mobility, high-tech healthcare, smart agriculture and aquaculture, smart urban centres, green materials, robotics and automation, innovation, digital transformation and innovation-driven finance.

A strategic highlight of the programme was the Ho Chi Minh City investment cooperation forum on innovation for mutual development and prosperity. The event marked an important milestone in attracting international resources, with a focus on future core technologies such as AI, semiconductors, data centres, digital transformation and green technology. It also helped translate the city’s sustainable development objectives into action while paving the way for greater inflows of high-quality capital into next-generation industries.

Addressing the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh expressed confidence that the event would create strategic connections and generate concrete projects in technology and human resources development. He also affirmed that the embassy would continue serving as a trusted bridge linking the city’s innovation ecosystem with resources from China and the wider international community.

Nguyen Loc Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, outlined the metropolis’s renewed vision amid expanding cooperation for sustainable development among major urban centres and innovation ecosystems.

He said Ho Chi Minh City is not only seeking to attract new investment projects but is also prepared to work alongside international partners to co-create new growth drivers and cooperation platforms.

In particular, the city envisages gradually establishing a strategic dialogue and connectivity axis linking the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the AMNC in China and the annual Autumn Economic Forum held in Ho Chi Minh City, Ha noted. This orientation is intended to elevate the role of major cities and business communities as emerging growth poles with a stronger position in the evolving global economic landscape.

Discussions at the forum focused directly on themes including technology diplomacy, green finance and practical experience in transitioning from traditional industrial park models to integrated innovation ecosystems.

Alongside assessments of global economic trends, participants examined in depth the key conditions for attracting high-quality investment, barriers to cross-border technology cooperation and practical measures to address these challenges.

Particular emphasis was placed on opportunities to deepen links between Vietnam, China and international partners in areas such as AI, big data and frontier technologies, opening up new avenues for high-value and widely impactful growth.

The forum also featured a series of roundtable discussions bringing together leading technology and finance executives from Vietnam, China and other countries. Building on these strategic discussions, the event concluded with the announcement and signing of multiple cooperation agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and proposals for future collaboration./.
