Khanh Hoa (VNA) – The south central province of Khanh Hoa is turning logistics into a key service sector, aiming to sharpen its competitive edge and supercharge the maritime economy, regional links, and deeper integration into both global and domestic supply chains.

Blessed with a strategic location, an expansive seaport network, Cam Ranh International Airport, cross-regional transport arteries, and rich marine economic potential, Khanh Hoa is now well-placed to emerge as the logistics hub for the entire south-central coast and Central Highlands.

Under a logistics development roadmap that stretches to 2030 with a vision to 2050, the province is racing to build a modern, green, and smart logistics ecosystem. Top priorities include rolling out logistics hubs linked to the Van Phong Economic Zone, Cam Ranh, and key transport gateways, while fast-tracking digital transformation and the use of cutting-edge technology across supply chain management.

Khanh Hoa already operates a seaport network made up of six port zones, 21 ports, and 42 berths, with a total wharf length stretching more than 8,785m. That infrastructure lays a rock-solid foundation for expanded port logistics services, cargo transshipment operations, and smooth regional transport connectivity.

Alongside those physical advantages, the provincial authorities have zeroed in on the need to widen cargo sources, boost the capacity of local logistics firms and foster ties with the Central Highlands and neighbouring south-central provinces. The sector’s biggest headaches remain unstable cargo volumes, patchy infrastructure, limited multimodal transport links, and the relatively small scale of homegrown logistics companies.

To refine its development roadmap, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade tapped experts, academics, business groups, and players from transportation, export-import, maritime, and aviation sectors for feedback. Discussions drilled down on logistics infrastructure, investment attraction, workforce training, and digital transformation.

Huynh Tan Hai, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, highlighted the importance of the project in concretising marine economic development orientation, raising local competitivenes and creating growth momemtum in the coming time.

Speaking at a recent consultation conference on the logistics blueprint, Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Foreign Trade Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, pressed the province to pay close attention to cargo generation, tighten connectivity with the Central Highlands, speed up digital transformation, and raise the bar for logistics enterprises to unlock new momentum for sector-wide growth.

According to the consulting team drafting the plan, logistics development in Khanh Hoa goes far beyond pouring concrete and steel, but seeks to build an integrated ecosystem that links Government bodies, manufacturers, logistics service providers, and neighbouring localities into a single, seamless chain.

Rising trade and manufacturing are already fueling heavier demand for logistics services. In 2025, Khanh Hoa’s total retail sales and consumer service revenue were estimated at over 198.8 trillion Vietnamese VND (7.64 billion USD, leaping 15.3% from 2024, a clear signal of the swelling flow of goods across the province.

Looking down the road, Khanh Hoa intends to keep upgrading transport connections, raising workforce quality, and luring major investors into the logistics arena. The endgame is a logistics network strong enough to efficiently tie together global, regional, and domestic economic hubs./.
