Lao National Assembly delegation visits Son La to deepen bilateral cooperation

Son La province will further strengthen multifaceted collaboration with Lao localities, contributing to the development of the ties between the two Parties, States, and peoples, a local official has said.

Son La (VNA) – A delegation from the Lao National Assembly (NA), led by Vice President Suvon Luongbunmi, paid a working visit to Vietnam's northwestern province of Son La on April 23.

Welcoming the delegation, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh said Vietnam and Laos are close neighbours, with their great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation considered a priceless legacy nurtured by generations of both peoples.

He stressed that Son La, sharing borders with Laos’ Houaphanh and Luang Prabang provinces, proudly serves as a bridge in reinforcing bilateral ties. In recent years, it has signed cooperation pacts and forged strong and all-rounded relationships with nine provinces of Laos.

Expressing gratitude to the Lao Party, Government, NA, and Suvon Luongbunmi for their support for cooperation between Son La and various Lao localities, the local Party leader affirmed that his province will further strengthen multifaceted collaboration with its Lao counterparts, contributing to the development of the ties between the two Parties, States, and peoples.

The Lao NA Vice President appreciated Son La’s long-standing and practical support for the nine Lao provinces it has twinned with over the years.

He said the visit aims to implement the memorandum of understanding on cooperation signed between the Vietnamese and Lao NAs, and to reinforce the outcomes of the two parliaments’ recent bilateral talks.

The working session also saw both sides exchanging experience in performing legislative and supervision functions, as well as discussing their mutual support in socio-economic development and protection of a peaceful and friendly border./.
