- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has called for stronger reforms in legislative work, emphasising a shift from a management-oriented mindset to a development-driven one, moving away from “ban it if it cannot be control” toward creating legal frameworks that foster innovation, unlock productive capacity and pool all resources for development.

The top leader made the statement while chairing a conference in Hanoi on May 26 to adopt a draft report on the second round of the Politburo and Secretariat’s inspections and supervision over the National Assembly (NA) Party Committee’s Standing Board. Read full story

The inspection delegation reviewed the implementation of the two-tier local administration model, solutions to achieve growth targets under the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the enforcement of Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science – technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, and the evaluation and classification of the quality of Party organisations and officials. - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has stressed the need for a major shift in development mindset during his working session with the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Vinh Long province on May 26, describing it as a crucial task for the locality at the current stage.

- The ASEAN Future Forum 2026 (AFF 2026) will run in Hanoi on June 9-10, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs told an international press briefing in the capital on May 26.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong told reporters that the forum, first proposed by the Vietnamese Prime Minister at the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia in September 2023, has been successfully organised in 2024 and 2025, gradually establishing itself as an open dialogue platform that effectively complements ASEAN’s formal processes. Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam’s National Assembly and Thailand’s House of Representatives, signed in 2023, Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue exchanges of delegations at all levels, expand interactions between parliamentary friendship groups, especially the Vietnam–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as among women and young parliamentarians, while maintaining close coordination at multilateral forums.

The Vietnamese and Cambodian PMs agreed to keep shoring up the foundation of political trust and maintain close defence-security ties, pledging not to let hostile forces use either country’s territory to undermine or threaten the security and interests of the other. Vietnamese Embassy in Israel urges citizens to enhance safety measures

The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel recommended that Vietnamese nationals regularly follow alerts and instructions issued by the Israeli Home Front Command; install and use the official Home Front Command warning application; and immediately move to a safe room or shelter when air raid sirens sound. They should avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from areas considered unsafe or at risk of unsafety.
