Nam Dich - Huoi Hia border crossing opens in Dien Dien

DienBien (VNA) – Leaders of the northern Dien Bien province of Vietnam and Phongsaly province of Laos announced the opening of Nam Dich - Huoi Hia border crossing at an inauguration ceremony in Nam Dich hamlet in Cha Nua commune of Dien Bien's Nam Po district on May15.

Speaking at the event, ViceChairman of the Dien Bien provincial People's Committee Pham Duc Toan affirmed that theopening of the border crossing holds significant economic and politicalimportance. It opened up new potential in economic, commercial, political, andcultural ties between the two provinces while laying a foundation for theregistration and control of border entry and exit in accordance with legalregulations of both countries.

Deputy Governor ofPhongsaly province Khamlek Chayesan, for his part, said the inauguration of the border crossing was animportant milestone to further strengthen the great friendship and specialsolidarity between Vietnam and Laos, encouraging residents in border areas toexchange goods and production experience, thereby improving their lives.

Agreeingwith the proposal of Dien Bien’s leader regarding the upgrade of the road from Muong May districtto the Nam Dich – Huoi Hia border crossing, Chayesan wished the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, andbetween Dien Bien and Phongsaly would be sustainable forever.  

On the occasion,the two provinces chose One Commune, One Product items to display at theevent./.

Vietnam, India promote law enforcement cooperation

Lao NA President begins official visit to Vietnam

Vietnamese, Lao legislatures strengthen strategic ties

The official visit by Lao National Assembly President Sonexay Siphandone and his spouse will provide an opportunity for the two sides to discuss strategic measures to further deepen bilateral relations in the next phase. The visit will also reaffirm their determination to develop the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos in a more substantive and sustainable manner, for the benefit of the two countries' people.
