Reference exchange rate up on February 4

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,360 VND/USD on February 4, up 35 VND, the last working day before the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 25,578 VND/USD and the floor rate 23,142 VND/USD.

At major commercial banks, the opening-hour rates saw sharp increases.

At 8:27am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 25,120 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,480 VND/USD, both 180 VND as compared with the February 3 morning session.

The rates listed at BIDV were 25,085 VND/USD (buying) and 25,445 VND/USD (selling), both up 175 VND./.
