Thai Nguyen (VNA) – Around 1,000 residents and visitors gathered in Vo Tranh commune of the northern province of Thai Nguyen on June 23 to create a giant teapot symbol using traditional conical hats amid lush tea hills, providing a striking highlight of a programme themed “Experience Vo Tranh – Imprints of the tea land and a year-long journey of growth and development.”

Under the golden June sunshine, vibrant green tea plantations stretched across the rolling hills of Goc Gao hamlet, forming the iconic landscape of one of Vietnam’s most renowned tea-growing regions.

At the centre of the scene, more than 1,000 traditional conical hats were arranged to form a giant teapot and a tea blossom – familiar symbols of Vietnam’s tea culture.

The activity, organised by the Vo Tranh Commune People’s Committee with the support of Viet Phuong Ao Dai brand, was assessed by the Vietnam Records Organisation for the national record of the largest number of participants forming a teapot symbol with conical hats.

The record is expected to be officially recognised and awarded at an art and honouring programme scheduled for June 28 at Vo Tranh commune's Cultural and Sports Centre.

According to organisers, the teapot was chosen as it represents Vietnamese tea culture, symbolising connection, sharing and hospitality. For the people of Thai Nguyen, it also evokes the tea-growing and processing tradition that has shaped the province’s reputation.

The conical hat, a symbol of Vietnamese simplicity, diligence and cultural identity, was incorporated as a community art element, creating a harmonious blend of two meaningful cultural icons.

The performance not only honoured traditional tea culture but also reflected local pride, community solidarity and aspirations for development.

Chief director and designer Han Phuong said the record was more than a measure of scale, describing it as a symbol of unity and collective efforts by the people of Vo Tranh to preserve and promote traditional cultural values. Through the event, organisers hope to showcase the image of the tea land and introduce its cultural identity to audiences at home and abroad.

As part of the programme, visitors also enjoyed an "Ao dai" fashion show by designer Han Phuong, featuring creations inspired by ethnic cultural motifs and the distinctive identity of Thai Nguyen’s tea region. Through fashion, traditional cultural values were creatively reinterpreted and celebrated.

The “Experience Vo Tranh – Imprints of the tea land, a year-long journey of growth and development” programme runs from June 15 - 30 and features a range of activities, including a photo contest themed “Colours of the tea hills”, a logo design competition for Vo Tranh, a seminar on community-based tourism linked to tea culture, performances of the traditional Tac Xinh dance of the San Chay ethnic minority group, and exhibitions of OCOP products and local specialties.

The programme aims to promote the locality’s strengths in tea production, tea culture and community tourism, while marking a year of efforts to elevate the Vo Tranh tea brand through sustainable development.

Through cultural exchanges, experiential activities and tourism promotion, Vo Tranh hopes to further highlight the unique values of its traditional tea-growing region and establish itself as an attractive destination on the tourism map of Thai Nguyen and Vietnam’s northern midland and mountainous region./.
