Bangkok (VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has established a committee to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2025 local government recruitment examination.
The committee is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt, and Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon Naowarat serves as its deputy chair, according to Government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek.
It is tasked with examining the allegations and their legal implications, and must submit its findings to the PM within 30 days from July 6, with progress reports every 10 days.
Rachada said the investigation will be conducted transparently, with its findings used to strengthen safeguards against future exam fraud and restore public confidence in the civil service.
Meanwhile, Pakorn said the Civil Service Commission has approved five measures to combat cheating in civil service entrance examinations nationwide.
The proposals, which will be submitted to the cabinet for approval, will disqualify candidates found to have cheated, place them on a blacklist, and revoke their examination certificates. Civil servants found to have cheated before entering the service will also face dismissal.
In a related development, Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit said on July 7 that the Department of Local Administration under the Ministry of Interior had reviewed the first three groups of successful candidates who had already been appointed, totalling more than 15,000 individuals. The review found that around 5,000 cases showed discrepancies between the officially announced scores and images of the examination papers./.
