Ho Chi Minh City (VNS/VNA) - A special concert honouring musician Trinh Cong Son, one of Vietnam’s most iconic cultural figures, will be held in Singapore on April 18.

This event is part of a series of commemorative activities honouring his musical legacy, which was announced on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his passing (April 1, 2001 – April 1, 2026).

It is co-organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, the family of Trinh Cong Son, Vietnam Brand Purpose, Stamford Global Leadership Centre, Silver Lion Enterprise Impact, and Rong Xanh Fellowship.

The concert is titled Noi Vong Tay Lon (The Great Circle of Vietnam), as a reference to one of his most famous songs, and it will take place at 7:00pm at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

It is expected to welcome around 500 guests, including leaders, diplomatic representatives, business executives, intellectuals, the Vietnamese community in Singapore, and international friends who appreciate Vietnamese culture.

The concert will feature renowned artists such as singers My Linh, Duc Tuan, Tan Son, and Ce Ce Truong; Saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan; Arabesque Vietnam dance troupe; and the Vinh Tam live band, as well as a special performance by Vietnamese children abroad.

25 years after his death, Trinh Cong Son’s music continues to resonate deeply with generations of Vietnamese people as well as international audiences.

Songs such as Noi Vong Tay Lon, Ha Trang (White Summer) or De Gio Cuon Di (Cast into the Wind) remain timeless melodies, conveying messages of love, peace, and human connection.

Trinh Vinh Trinh, Trinh Cong Son’s sister, noted that the concert in Singapore event holds special significance as it marks the first time the family has directly participated in organising an overseas tribute concert since his passing.

The aim is not only to preserve his musical legacy but also to bring his melodies closer to Vietnamese communities worldwide.

Tran Phuoc Anh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore, said that the event provides an opportunity for connection, cultural rediscovery, and strengthening ties to the homeland through music.

At the same time, the event contributes to introducing Vietnamese culture to international audiences, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

The concert is part of the Vietnam – Singapore Partnership for Growth week, taking place in April 16-19. The series includes forums, site visits, and knowledge exchange activities aimed at connecting business and intellectual ecosystems between the two countries, while promoting cooperation in strategic sectors such as technology, education, innovation, and branding.

2026 also marks one year since Vietnam and Singapore upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening a new phase of deeper collaboration./.
