Paris (VNA) - The Vietnamese women’s team clinched a convincing 13–1 victory over Thailand in the final of the World Women’s Triples Championship, which concluded in Sin-le-Noble city, northern France, on October 12.

The reigning world champions from Vietnam dominated the match to successfully defend their title.

Their path to the final, however, was far from easy. The Vietnamese team narrowly overcame Belgium 13–10 in a hard-fought semifinal. Belgium had earlier eliminated one of the two teams of France — the birthplace of petanque — in the quarterfinals.

The French media described the atmosphere at the Douaisis Boulodrome on October 12 as “filled with Asian colours,” with Thailand defeating Cambodia 13–4 in the other semifinal to secure their place in the final. However, the Thai athletes fell short of a double championship following their earlier triumph in the precision shooting event./.
