– The National Assembly (NA) on February 17 passed the Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on the Organisation of the NA at its ongoing 9th extraordinary session, with all 461 present legislators, or 96.44% of the total number of deputies, casting “yes” votes.

– Lawmakers have agreed on the necessity to early issue a resolution on special investment mechanisms and policies for Ninh Thuan nuclear power project following the conclusions of competent authorities and the NA.
In a plenary debate on February 17 morning as part of the legislature’s ongoing 9th extraordinary session, legislators gave their opinions on selecting partners and contractors, financial plans and capital arrangements, policies for project-hosting localities, and other related issues. – NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man on February 16 requested the trade unions of Vietnam to make new and stronger development steps and contribute significantly to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as the industrialisation and modernisation cause of the country.

Addressing the first national conference held by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) to honour 95 outstanding workers who are Party members, Man urged the VGCL, along with trade union officials, union members, and workers, to continue to disseminate, thoroughly grasp, and effectively implement the Party's policies and guidelines, as well as the State's laws and regulations, especially those related to the organisation and activities of trade unions and regulations concerning workers. – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha hosted a reception in Hanoi on February 17 for Reha Denemec, Vice President of Türkiye's IC ICTAS Group, the general contractor in the VIETUR consortium, which is carrying out bidding package 5.10 on the construction and installation of equipment at the passenger terminal of component project 3 of Long Thanh international airport project.
At the meeting, Ha acknowledged that IC ICTAS is a reputable group with experiences in constructing airports worldwide. He emphasised that the Vietnamese Government and the Prime Minister have paid much attention to, regularly monitored and directed to expedite the completion of the air project. Read full story
– Vietnam is expected to export over 7.5 million tonnes of rice in 2025, mainly from the Mekong Delta, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
MARD’s supply and demand report sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) projects the Mekong Delta will cultivate 3.78 million hectares of rice, yielding more than 23.96 million tonnes. Of this, 15.08 million tonnes of commercial rice, equivalent to 7.54 million tonnes of husked rice, will be available for export. Read full story
