Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) wishes to localities and units on January 14.
Addressing a Tet programme in the central province of Quang Ngai, Deputy PM Binh extended the best wishes to local employees and poor people as the Year of the Snake is approaching. He expressed his hope that every worker and citizen will make more efforts in production to contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
Speaking at a meeting with former local leaders, Binh hailed efforts made by the provincial Party Committee, authorities and people, showing his belief that Quang Ngai will make further breakthroughs in the near future.
Meeting with representatives of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel JSC and Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd (Doosan Vina) in Binh Son district, the Deputy PM highly valued the endeavours of the businesses and wished them a successful new year. He took the occasion to present gifts to workers there.
The Deputy PM also visited and presented gifts to the family of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Pham Thi Lu in Quang Ngai city, and a wounded soldier in Binh Son district.
The same morning, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan joined a programme to welcome the Lunar New Year hosted by the Central Highlands mobile police regiment in Gia Lai province.
She spoke highly of achievements made by the unit in 2024, while emphasizing the critical role played by the force in safeguarding national security, especially in strategic regions like the Central Highlands, which faces challenges related to ethnic communities, religions, and border security.
She urged the force to continue focusing on training activities to improve the quality of personnel, organising large-scale exercises that closely simulate real situations to stay ready to respond to any circumstance. Xuan also asked the unit to better effective coordination with local police and the military in ensuring security and order, especially in emergency situations.
The Vice President also underlined the importance of building a clean and strong Party orrganisation, as well as a disciplined, elite, and modern force, noting that the regiment needs to continue innovating its training so that the force can effectively respond to all situations to protect national security.
On this occasion, Xuan presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the regiment and planted a commemorative tree there.
Meanwhile, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor and near-poor households, and workers with difficult circumstances in the northern province of Ninh Binh.
He congratulated Ninh Binh on achieving and surpassing all 17 socio-economic development targets, and praised the provincial leadership for their caring for the people’s lives. The NA official demanded local authorities, organisations, and units to continue effectively implementing social welfare programmes and poverty reduction initiatives in the future.
On this occasion, 400 gift packages, worth 1.3 million VND (over 51 USD) each, funded by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and 400 others, worth 1 million VND each, donated by the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) were handed over to policy beneficiary families, poor and near-poor households, and disadvantaged labourers in the locality./.
