Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Party General Secretary To Lam attended a ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the People’s Procuracy (July 26, 1960 – 2025) in Hanoi on July 21, during which he hailed the sector's role as a key pillar in reinforcing the socialist rule-of-law State.

At the ceremony, which was connected to units across the Procuracy sector nationwide, General Secretary Lam presented the "Labour Hero" title to the Supreme People’s Procuracy. Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy Nguyen Huy Tien, awarded the “For the Cause of the Procuracy” insignia to individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of the sector. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 21 inspected the construction progress of two major expressway projects in the Mekong Delta, namely Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang and Cao Lanh – An Huu, and removed obstacles facing them.

The Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway, spanning 188.2 km, runs through four provinces and is being developed in phases as a four-lane route. Groundbreaking took place on June 17, 2023, with substantial completion targeted for 2026 and full operation expected by 2027. The expressway consists of four independent sub-projects, each managed by the respective provincial authority. Read full story

– While inspecting the operation of two-tier local administrations and public administrative service centres in Thoi Son ward in An Giang province and My Hiep commune in Dong Thap province on July 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underscored that under no circumstances, should the restructuring of administrative apparatus affect the material or spiritual well-being of residents.

In Thoi Son ward, a locality bordering Cambodia, the PM noted the smooth operation of the public administrative service centre over the past two weeks, but he emphasised the need to fully assess the situation, identify any remaining obstacles, and address unresolved issues. Read full story

– Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Chairman of its Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac held talks with Chan Chun Sing, Assistant Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore in Hanoi on July 21.

During the talks, Trac expressed his belief that his guest’s visit serves as a valuable opportunity for both sides to discuss measures to further enhance the friendship and cooperation between the two Parties, effectively implement the content and orientation of the Vietnam – Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the time ahead, contributing to deepening trust and cohesion between the two Parties and the two countries. – Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong hosted a reception for US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper on July 21, discussing orientations to bolster bilateral cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Phuong underscored that parliamentary cooperation has become a bright spot in the bilateral relations, with significant contributions from the period when both nations worked to heal the wounds of war through the normalisation of relations to the current Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. – A Government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected storm preparedness measures in the northern province of Hung Yen on July 21.

The Deputy PM visited key sites, including the Tan Son Fishing Port anchorage area in Thai Thuy commune and the Mai Diem flood control pumping station at the Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park. Listening to a briefing from local authorities on the province’s response efforts to Storm Wipha, the third of its kind entering the East Sea this year, he commended the proactive and well-coordinated preparedness measures undertaken so far. – In response to Typhoon Wipha, the third to hit the East Sea this year, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has decided to temporarily suspend the reception and operation of aircraft at airports located within the affected areas on July 21 and 22.

Accordingly, the Van Don international airport in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh and the Cat Bi international airport in neighbouring Hai Phong city will be closed from 11 p.m. on July 21, to noon on July 22. Read full story./.

Vietnamese naval ship completes mission at Kakadu Exercise 2026

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.
