- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on September 17 visited and had a working session with leaders of Malaysia's national oil and gas company Petronas as part of his trip to the country.

At the meeting, the top legislator underlined that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia has been continually strengthened, producing important results in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. Oil and gas cooperation has long been a key pillar of this relationship, he noted. Read full story

- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the Meeting of the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter‑Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46) Executive Committee in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 17.

In his remarks, Chairman Man highly appreciated Malaysia’s thorough preparations, affirming that the Vietnamese delegation supports and works closely with the Malaysian parliament and other AIPA member parliaments to contribute to the success of AIPA-46, thereby fostering inclusive and sustainable development in the region. - The Malaysian Parliament, in collaboration with the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), launched “Now and Future 2025 Conference and Exhibition: Connecting Business with Policymakers” in Kuala Lumpur on September 17.

Running through September 20, the event marks the first time an official platform has been created within the AIPA framework to connect the private sector with policymakers, aiming to discuss pressing issues such as economic growth, sustainability, digitalisation, and social inclusion. - Objective, fact-based reporting is critical not only for Vietnam’s peace and security but also for global stability, according to Nakamura Goro, a prominent Japanese photojournalist with decades of ties to Vietnam.

Since 1961, Nakamura has trained his camera on the Vietnam War, capturing the scars left by Agent Orange, the chemical defoliant deployed by US troops. In a recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the occasion of its 80th founding anniversary (September 15), he recounted the bravery of its journalists, including their support during a 1979 assignment in Lang Son, where he witnessed their resilience firsthand. - Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh on September 16 had a working session with Abdelkader Toumi, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Batna province, which is twinned with Dien Bien province of Vietnam, and representatives of Algerian enterprises to seek ways to expand cooperation in various fields.

Toumi said Algeria has promulgated a new investment law and carried out recent economic reforms aimed at creating favourable conditions for domestic and foreign investors. - The 12th Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM), set for September 20, will see nearly 2,000 runners from 47 countries ready to tackle the grueling 50km and 100km ultra-marathons, both part of the prestigious World Trail Majors circuit, organisers announced.

The event also features shorter races - 21km and 10km - across Sa Pa’s rugged mountains. This year marks VMM’s debut in the World Trail Majors, joining 11 other elite trail races globally. Read full story

- The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance hosted an investment promotion conference in the UK on September 16, drawing nearly 300 representatives from major corporations, banks, and investment funds across the UK, Vietnam, and beyond.

In his opening remarks, Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang highlighted Vietnam’s economic momentum over the first eight months of this year, noting realised foreign direct investment (FDI) of an estimated 15.4 billion USD, up 8.8% year-on-year and the highest eight-month figure in five years. - Singapore’s United Overseas Bank (UOB) has boosted its 2025 GDP growth forecast for Vietnam to 7.5% from 6.9%, pointing to the economy’s resilience and dynamism despite tariff risks and uncertainties.

According to UOB’s Global Economics & Markets Research unit, Vietnam’s GDP expanded 7.52% in the first half from a year earlier, marking the quickest January-June pace since 2011./. Read full story
