Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade aims to complete the necessary procedures for establishing the Vietnam - Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee in the first quarter of 2025, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said on March 6.

Receiving Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev and Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov, who are accompanying Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev during his official visit to Vietnam, Dien shared that the two sides will hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in June 2025.

On this occasion, his ministry will send a delegation of leading enterprises to Kyrgyzstan to explore the market and establish business cooperation connections.

Vietnam plans to open a trade promotion office in Kyrgyzstan by the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second, he added.

Taalaibek Ibraev stated that Kyrgyzstan highly values its sincere and trusted cooperation with Vietnam across all fields, especially in energy.

Providing more details about the activities of the Kyrgyz delegation in Vietnam, he said that during the visit, Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan will sign two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to promote cooperation in the field of renewable energy. These agreements are expected to unlock new potential for collaboration in the energy sector.

Agreeing with the remarks of the two Kyrgyz ministers, Dien affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and Ministry of Industry and Trade always support and provide the best possible conditions for foreign enterprises, including those from Kyrgyzstan, to invest and cooperate in the country.

In 2024, two-way trade between the two nations reached 21.5 million USD, an increase of 172% compared to 2023. Of this, Vietnam exported 10.8 million USD worth of goods to Kyrgyzstan and spent 10.7 million USD on imports from Kyrgyzstan./.
