Russian State Duma Chairman arrives in Hanoi, beginning official visit to Vietnam

The visit reflects the determination of both sides to preserve their traditional friendship while elevating their comprehensive strategic partnership to a new phase of development on the foundation of high political trust.

Hanoi (VNA) - Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin and a high-ranking Russian delegation arrived in Hanoi on September 28 afternoon, beginning a two-day official visit to Vietnam, during which he will co-chair the 4th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the State Duma.

The visit is being made at the invitation of Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly of Tran Thanh Man.

The delegation was welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, among others.

On the eve of the visit, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that Volodin’s official visit takes place in a year marked by major anniversaries, including the 75th anniversary of Vietnam – Russia diplomatic relations, the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, and the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War.

Against this backdrop, it reflects the determination of both sides to preserve their traditional friendship while elevating their comprehensive strategic partnership to a new phase of development on the foundation of high political trust.

In addition, the visit will contribute to strengthening the Vietnamese National Assembly's cooperation with the Russian State Duma in particular and the Russian Federal Assembly in general, enhancing exchanges and coordination between the two countries' specialised committees and parliamentary friendship groups, as well as coordinating actions at international and regional inter-parliamentary forums.

The visit is an opportunity for leaders of the two countries to discuss bilateral cooperation issues, from economy, trade, oil and gas, and science and technology to education, culture, defence, and people-to-people exchanges. It provides a chance to strengthen bonds between the two legislatures, advance important cooperation projects, remove existing obstacles, and define orientations for future collaboration.

Within the framework of the visit, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man will co-chair the 4th meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. This is the highest and first inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanism between the Vietnamese National Assembly and a foreign legislative body.

At this meeting, the two sides will share their experiences in legislative activities, performing the supervisory role of the two countries' parliaments in implementing cooperation as well as exchanging solutions to guide the two governments to resolve specific difficulties and obstacles in bilateral cooperation in the current period, especially promoting the search for new driving forces, effectively exploiting potential fields such as science - technology, education - training that have not been fully utilised to achieve the goal of "renewing relations" and raising the level of cooperation./.

PM directs tasks to boost economic growth
