State President meets Speaker of Egyptian House of Representatives in Cairo

State President Luong Cuong affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation, and called on Egypt’s House of Representatives to support major initiatives aimed at boosting bilateral ties in a more practical, effective, and comprehensive manner.

Cairo (VNA) - State President Luong Cuong met with Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Hanafy El Gebaly in Cairo on August 6 (local time), as part of his ongoing state visit to Egypt.

Welcoming President Cuong and his entourage, Speaker El Gebaly praised the Vietnamese people as truly deserving international admiration for overcoming countless challenges to achieve remarkable socio-economic development.

The host expressed his appreciation for the outcomes of the earlier talks between President Cuong and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, describing the Vietnamese leader’s visit as a strong testament to the determination of both countries’ leadership and people to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Speaker El Gebaly noted confidence that the visit would generate fresh momentum for the two nations to expand their cooperation across all fields, while also contributing to addressing regional and global challenges.

President Cuong, for his part, lauded Egypt’s rich ancient civilisation and thanked Egyptian leaders and people for their warm welcome to the Vietnamese delegation.

Highlighting the recent elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership and the signing of many key cooperation documents, President Cuong called on the Egyptian House of Representatives to continue supporting the effective implementation of the newly upgraded partnership, while pushing ahead with the execution of these cooperation documents.

Speaker El Gebaly said he wishes to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and multilaterally. He suggested increasing exchanges of delegations at all levels and promoting stronger collaboration in trade, investment, and tourism. He also voiced hope for more Vietnamese students to study at Egyptian universities.

President Cuong affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation, and called on Egypt’s House of Representatives to support major initiatives aimed at boosting bilateral ties in a more practical, effective, and comprehensive manner. He also stressed the importance of signing new cooperation agreements to establish a stronger legal framework for future collaboration.

Both sides agreed to work closely to monitor the implementation of high-level commitments and to share legislative experience. They also pledged to coordinate and support each other at international organisations and parliamentary forums. The two leaders welcomed the idea of establishing a Vietnam–Egypt Parliamentary Friendship Group to facilitate regular exchanges and information sharing.

On this occasion, President Cuong conveyed an invitation from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Speaker El Gebaly to visit Vietnam. The Egyptian House Speaker expressed keen interest in making a visit at the earliest convenient time./.
