Thailand moves to boost digital government

According to the Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Ministry of Commerce, all registrations for newly established partnerships and companies must now be completed through the DBD Biz Regist online platform.

Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand has taken another step towards digital government by fully digitising new business registration services and ending paper-based legal entity information services from July 1.

According to the Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Ministry of Commerce, all registrations for newly established partnerships and companies must now be completed through the DBD Biz Regist online platform.

DBD Director-General Poonpong Naiyanapakorn said the department spent the past nine months developing the digital platform to make it more convenient, user-friendly and efficient, while ensuring online applications are processed as quickly as, or faster than, paper-based submissions.

The transition has been widely embraced by businesses. In June, 7,146 new businesses, or 95.04% of all new registrations, were filed online through DBD Biz Regist, while only 373 applications, or 4.96%, were submitted in person. By comparison, online registrations accounted for just 76.95% of new business applications in September 2025.

Twenty-eight of Thailand's 77 provinces, including Krabi, Kamphaeng Phet, Pattani, Loei and Nong Khai, recorded a 100% online registration rate, with no in-person applications./.
