He also thanked Vietnam for assistance provided by Vietnamese experts, particularly those working in education, who have contributed to Cambodia’s post-war reconstruction and development to this day.

For his part, Vu congratulated Naron, along with the leadership and staff of the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, for effectively implementing the Education Strategic Plan (ESP) for the 2024–2028 period, thus contributing to further development in the education sector and fostering high-quality human resources for the country. He also highly valued the Cambodian ministry for its ongoing efforts to reform the education system and develop a new curriculum through the application of digital infrastructure, aiming toward a more comprehensive and advanced education system.

The Ambassador emphasised that cooperation in education and training continues to receive due attention from both sides, contributing to strengthening cultural exchange, solidarity and close and friendly ties between the two countries’ people, especially youths.

Vietnam will consider offering more scholarships to Cambodian students and supporting training in essential fields aligned with development trends, such as technology and telecommunications, the diplomat said, adding that Vietnam may accept students from high school age to study and live with Vietnamese families in a “home-stay” model, helping to strengthen bonds and deepen their understanding of Vietnamese customs and culture.

Naron thanked the Vietnamese side for increasing the number of scholarships for Cambodia, affirming that his country will coordinate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training to sign a new agreement on education cooperation for the 2026–2030 period.

In meeting with Ambassador Vu on May 19 afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service Hun Many congratulated Vietnam on its development achievements, which are gradually turning its economy into a "new Asian tiger."

He spoke highly of the high-level meeting between the parties of Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the trilateral meeting among the parties of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, held in February in HCM City, noting that these demonstrated the common stance and orientation to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the coming time in a more effective and practical manner.

Many affirmed that Cambodia always values its relationship with Vietnam and never forget the material and spiritual support, especially the sacrifices made by Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who helped Cambodia escape the genocidal regime in the past, as well as support for Cambodia’s national development efforts today.

The Cambodian official promised to preserve and enhance the friendship and good relationship between the two parties, the two governments, and especially between the youth unions of the two nations.

In his response, Ambassador Vu expressed his impression of Cambodia’s development and great achievements made by the Cambodian people in recent times under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) led by President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Government headed by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

He congratulated the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, on its contribution to the country’s national development and construction.

The diplomat pledged to do his utmost to promote the strong relationship between the two countries, especially among young people, in order to further nurture the traditional friendship and enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation across fields./.
