Hanoi (VNA) – The National Achievements Exhibition opened on August 28 at the Vietnam Exposition Centre in Dong Anh, Hanoi, to mark the 80th anniversary of the National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), under the theme “Eighty Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness.”
The exhibition highlights the nation’s arduous yet glorious journey, affirms Vietnam’s international standing, and seeks to inspire confidence in the country’s bright future and determination to build a prosperous, modern and powerful nation.
A panorama of achievements
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said the exhibition underscores the decisive role of Party leadership, effective State governance, and the unity and creativity of the people and businesses throughout 80 years of national construction and development.
Covering nearly 260,000 square metres, the exhibition features both indoor and outdoor spaces designed as an open, multi-layered showcase with three main sections.
At Kim Quy Exhibition House, the theme “Vietnam – Journey to a New Era” presents milestones of national growth over eight decades, alongside displays on the country’s 4,000-year cultural heritage, the diversity of its 54 ethnic groups, and iconic architecture across regions.
Another highlight is “95 Years of the Party’s Guiding Flag,” which revisits landmark events of modern Vietnamese history and achievements under Communist Party leadership.
Also at the Kim Quy Hall, displays highlight local history, renewal achievements, cultural identity, and development potential under the theme “Rich Provinces, Strong Nation,” alongside showcases of enterprises’ rapid growth aspirations.
The outdoor area, themed “Integration and Development,” introduces green industries, digital transformation and defence technology. It also features aerospace aspirations, cultural performances, tourism fairs and culinary events.
Exhibition Hall A hosts the international section “Vietnam and the World” and displays on 12 cultural industries under “Integration and Creativity.”
Minister Nguyen Van Hung said a highlight of the exhibition is the strong use of modern technology and innovative display concepts introduced for the first time at a national-scale event.
Virtual and augmented reality, interactive touchscreens, 3D models and multimedia presentations will be integrated across exhibition spaces, allowing visitors not only to observe but also to interact, explore and experience the displays in a more vivid and accessible way.
Spreading the aspiration to rise
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that the exhibition “80 Years of Independence–Freedom–Happiness” is a special highlight, not only honouring the nation’s glorious history but also spreading patriotism, national pride and the aspiration to rise, affirming Vietnam’s potential and position on the path of renewal, integration and development.
The exhibition showcases Vietnam’s cultural traditions, industrious spirit and economic achievements, highlighting the nation’s thousand-year history, diverse identity of 54 ethnic groups, and progress across ministries, sectors and 34 provinces and cities over the past 80 years.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the event reflects the collective contributions of the Party, people and armed forces throughout Vietnam’s revolutionary history, with active participation from central and local agencies, the National Assembly and the business community.
Described as a “living classroom,” the exhibition blends tradition and modernity to make history more accessible, inspiring future generations to build a prosperous, civilised and globally competitive Vietnam.
Following the opening ceremony, Party General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and delegates toured the displays. The exhibition runs free of charge from August 28 to September 5./.
