Vietnam, Venezuela boost cooperation in training, research

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Venezuela will strengthen cooperation in training, research, and policy consultation, aiming to deepen their long-standing friendship and expand practical collaboration.

The consensus was reached during a meeting in Hanoi on October 23 between Politburo member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) and Chairman of the Central Theory Council Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and Venezuela’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania Tatiana Pugh Moreno, who is also Director of Venezuela’s Institute for Advanced Studies in Diplomacy.

Thang emphasised that Vietnam values its traditional friendship with Venezuela, and expressed hope for closer bilateral ties in areas such as trade, culture, education, and academic exchange.

He highlighted the deep roots of the two nations’ relationship, built on their struggles for national independence and mutual support.

Moreno also affirmed that the partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela continues to grow stronger on the foundation of collaboration and mutual support.

Regarding Venezuela's situation, she said, despite facing difficulties, Venezuela’s economy has maintained steady growth.

Thang reiterated Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, and diversification. He said Vietnam remains steadfast in supporting the struggle for independence and the cause of nation-building and development of all countries, including its traditional friends.

He proposed accelerating specific projects, such as research and training programmes for Venezuelan officials. Thang noted that the academy currently runs similar programmes with Cuba, Angola, and several other countries.

Moreno said Venezuela is ready to send officials and experts to Vietnam for study and exchange, and proposed exploring multilateral cooperation with Cuba and Nicaragua within these programmes.

They also shared experiences in foreign policy, and expressed confidence that with a foreign policy aimed at peace and stability, the two countries will achieve their goals./.
