Vietnamese community in Cambodia always look back to their roots: official

The event to express deep respect and gratitude to the founder of modern Vietnam saw the attendance of leaders from units under the Vietnamese Embassy.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Vietnamese community in Cambodia always look back to their roots, while preserving and promoting of their spirit of solidarity, Sim Chy, President of the Khmer-Vietnamese Association (KVA) stated at an incense offering ceremony in Phnom Penh marking the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 – 2025).

The event to express deep respect and gratitude to the founder of modern Vietnam saw the attendance of leaders from units under the Vietnamese Embassy.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Sim Chy recalled the late leader’s tireless journey in search of a path to national salvation, as well as his immense contributions of identifying the correct revolutionary path and leading the Vietnamese people to independence and freedom.

Sim Chy affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh’s life serves as a shining example of revolutionary ethics, always placing the interests of the nation and the people above all else. His teachings continue to serve as a guiding compass for the actions of every Vietnamese person today, he noted.

Sim Chy said the Vietnamese community in Cambodia remains active in learning, working, and step by step integrating into the host nation. They act as a solid bridge for fostering the friendship between the two peoples.

In an interview with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent, Ly Van Xuan, Vice President of the KVA’s Phnom Penh chapter, expressed his determination to uphold and carry forward the traditions of the Vietnamese people and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings. These include the spirit of solidarity, mutual affection and support, sharing in hardship, and always turning towards the homeland./.
