Algiers (VNA) – Vietnam has achieved remarkable progress across various fields, including human development, industry, agriculture, and urbanisation, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), with innovative policies and the united support of its people, said Mourad Lamoudi, a representative of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN).

Speaking to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondents in Algiers on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution and National Day, Lamoudi extended warm greetings and congratulations from the FLN General Secretary to the CPV and the Vietnamese people, underscoring the FLN’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding friendship with the CPV.

Lamoudi lauded Vietnam’s achievements since national reunification, highlighting his visit to Ho Chi Minh City in April 2025, when he was impressed by the city’s dynamism and modernity, which he said reflect the effective policies that has laid a solid foundation for the country’s development.

On bilateral relations, he recalled that Vietnam – Algeria friendship was forged during the revolutionary period of the 1950s, when the two national liberation movements first established contact. In 1958, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was among the first countries to recognise the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic. At present, the CPV and the FLN are now working on a cooperation agreement to deepen and expand their ties, thereby reinforcing the fraternal bond between their peoples.

On Vietnam’s National Day, Lamoudi extended his best wishes to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, expressing confidence in the country’s continued success and development.

The victory of Vietnam is also the victory of Algeria and all progressive peoples committed to freedom worldwide, he said. Reflecting personally, he added that his generation is honoured to have lived in an era shaped by great leaders such as President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, and that the triumph at Dien Bien Phu and Vietnam’s struggle against the US remain enduring symbols of pride for all nations striving for independence and liberty./.
