Hanoi (VNA) - On August 19, 250 projects with a total investment capital of 1.28 quadrillion VND will be inaugurated or commenced simultaneously nationwide from 9am. These projects are expected to drive socio-economic development and boost national growth.
At a press conference on August 14, held by the Government Office to provide information on the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son said that following Prime Minister’s instructions in Official Telegram No. 57 (May 5, 2025) and No. 129 (August 7, 2025), the Ministry of Construction had, by August 13, received reports from 34 provinces and cities, 17 ministries and sectors, and 18 corporations.
Based on these, the Ministry reviewed and consolidated 250 projects qualified for inauguration or commencement, including 89 projects ready for inauguration and 161 eligible for groundbreaking in 34 cities/provinces.
The total investment capital amounts to 1.28 quadrillion VND, of which 478 trillion VND (37%) is from the State budget across 129 projects, and 802 trillion VND (63%) is from other sources, including five foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth 54 trillion VND.
“The completion of these projects will create momentum for economic growth, strengthen regional connectivity, help achieve the GDP growth target of 8.3%–8.5% in 2025, and pave the way for double-digit growth in 2026–2030. They will also generate jobs, improve livelihoods, and raise living standards for the people,” Minister Tran Van Son stressed.
He also revealed that on December 19, another nationwide round of inaugurations and groundbreakings will be organised, with major projects such as the completion of 3,000km of expressways and Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport - one year ahead of schedule - in celebration of the 14th National Party Congress.
Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan noted that the 250 projects constitute an important political event, adding to the achievements in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day.
“These projects and works demonstrate growth, self-reliance, and proactive development of socio-economic infrastructure – spanning transport, urban facilities, industrial zones, services, education and training, healthcare, science and technology, and innovation. They vividly reflect the efforts of the entire political system, stakeholders, and the solidarity of the people, who actively join in carrying out projects nationwide. They embody the joy and happiness of the people – the direct beneficiaries – and create fresh momentum as the country enters a new era,” Deputy Minister Tuan affirmed.
He further stated that these projects will contribute to the 2025 growth target of 8.5% and add 20% to GDP in the following years. Publicly funded projects, in particular, will establish an infrastructure framework to guide private sector development.
Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television, announced that among the 250 projects, 80 will be featured through online connections and nine will be broadcast live on VTV1 at 9am, while others will be inaugurated or commenced simultaneously.
Among the 250 projects, there are eight of national importance, 46 classified as Group A, 155 as Group B, and 41 as Group C.
The sectors covered include 59 transport projects, 44 urban civil works, 57 industrial projects, 36 technical infrastructure works, 22 social housing projects, six in industry and rural development, three in culture and sports, 12 in education, one in defence, and 10 in healthcare./.
