– A conference was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 1 to adopt a report on the first phase of inspection and supervision and announce decisions for the second phase concerning the Standing Board of the municipal Party Committee.
The event was chaired by Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, head of Inspection and Supervision Delegation No. 11 of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat. – The construction of a crude oil reserve storage in Nghi Son in the central province of Thanh Hoa rests on solid political, legal, practical and planning foundations, so the focus must be on advancing the project rather than any delay or retreat, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a meeting of standing government members in Hanoi on April 1.
The project will follow the master plan on national petrol and gas storage and supply infrastructure for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. It addresses an urgent need for energy infrastructure while holding strategic importance for economic development and national energy security. Read full story
– Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery exports reached 16.69 billion USD in the first three months of 2026, up 5.9% year-on-year, announced a regular press briefing held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in Hanoi on April 1.
In this period, the sector posted a trade surplus of 4.78 billion USD, representing a 12% increase, said Tran Gia Long, Deputy Director of the Planning and Finance Department. Read full story
– A nationwide programme aimed at nurturing a new generation of business leaders capable of driving green transition and digital transformation has been approved, with plans to train 10,000 managing directors for Vietnam’s private sector by 2030.
Issued under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 525/QD-TTg, the initiative seeks to develop a highly capable pool of private-sector managing directors equipped with modern governance expertise, strategic vision, and strong professional ethics. Read full story

– The Green Climate Fund (GCF) on April 1 officially approved a funding proposal submitted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in coordination with the Vietnamese Government for a results-based payment project under the REDD+ mechanism.
The proposal, titled “Vietnam REDD+ results-based payments for results period of 2014”, was endorsed at the 44th meeting of the GCF Board held in the Republic of Korea on March 26, 2026. Under the decision, Vietnam will receive 71.96 million USD through a results-based payment mechanism corresponding to independently verified greenhouse gas emission reductions. Read full story
